About Alpha Industries: After being commissioned in 1959, Alpha Industries began designing and manufacturing jackets for the U.S. military, protecting soldiers, aviators and sailors from the harsh elements. Today, Alpha Industries has closely maintained the authentic design for civilian fashion, outfitting men and women to realize their potential.
We've take our popular blood chit and mixed it with our lightweight, slim-fit l-2b bomber. The result is a fully-reversible flight jacket that pays tribute to a piece of military history. The blood chit was used by servicemen who were separated from their squadron or were shot down as a way to communicate with foreign troops about their safe return to us Forces.

The L-2B flight jacket was introduced in the early 1950s for use in light temperature zones (50 to 86 degrees F). Initially the bomber was only used by the U.S. Air Force which is why the USAF insignia was put on the sleeve. The flight jacket went through many specification updates including the removal of the oxygen tab, snap tabs and epaulets, along with the USAF logo as the jacket was eventually adopted by the Navy and other branches of the armed forces.
